4) Type reboot and press Enter.

Installing a Model 4xx Chassis without a Hard Drive
1. Remove power from the IBM 2212 by unplugging the power cord.
2. Install the system card and adapters.
| Note: If the new chassis has a blower without a wired connector
and the
| blower from the old chassis has a blower with a wired connector, install
| the blower with the wired connector, in the new chassis using the
| instructions in “Exchanging a Blower in Models 4xx” on page 2-6.
3. Attach an ASCII terminal to the IBM 2212 as described in Chapter 3,
“Accessing the IBM 2212” on page 3-1.
4. Power on the IBM 2212 by plugging in the power cord.
5. Access the SVC> prompt. See “Accessing the Service Recovery Prompt (SVC>)”
on page E-4.
6. Enter into Vital Product Data (VPD) the serial number of the defective IBM
2212 chassis. The serial number is printed on the back of the IBM 2212. For
instructions on entering the serial number into the VPD, see “Entering Vital
Product Data” on page E-14.
7. Type reboot and press Enter.
8. Verify the LEDs. See “LED Indicators” on page 1-2.
9. Reference the serial number recorded from the old chassis and write this serial
number on a label. Also write the chassis model number on the label. Post this
label on the exterior of the new chassis.
10. Notify the network administrator that you are finished.
