a. Align the connectors on the daughter card with the stand-offs on the base
|
card.
|
Note: Use caution when attaching the daughter card to the base card. In
|
addition to aligning the connectors with the stand-offs you should
|
also align the plug with the receptacle. See Figure 2-31.
|
b. Apply slight pressure to the daughter card until it is seated firmly.
|
c. Insert the three screws through the top of the daughter card into the base
|
card stand-offs and tighten them.
|
6. Record and keep the new part number and field replaceable unit (FRU) number
|
from the digital modem upgrade kit. Post this label over the old part number
|
and FRU number labels. These labels are located on the bottom of the card.
|
When the bottom of the card faces the ceiling and the levers are toward you,
|
you can locate the part and FRU number labels on the top left corner.
|
7. Slide the digital modem card along the grooves in the slot and secure the two
|
levers. To lock the card into place, pull each lever inward.
|
8. Power on the IBM 2212 by plugging in the power cord.
|
9. Verify the LEDs.
|

10. Connect an ASCII terminal or a PC with ASCII terminal emulation software
|
configured to use 19.2 Kbps line speed.
|
11. Invoke diagnostics from the either the OPCON prompt (*) when the IBM 2212 is
|
operating normally, or from the Service Recovery (SVC>) prompt when the IBM
|
2212 experiences problems.
|

12. At either prompt, type diags and press Enter. The following menu is displayed.
