Remove the card from the IBM 2212.
|
4. Remove and keep the following components from the high-performance system
|
card:
|

DRAM (See “Exchanging a DRAM Feature on a High-Performance System
|
Card” on page 2-20.)
|
¹
PMC adapters (See “Exchanging a PMC Adapter” on page 2-7.)
|
¹
Compact flash, if compact flash is installed on the system card (See
|
“Exchanging a Compact Flash Feature” on page 2-22.)
|
5. Return the high-performance system card as indicated in the warranty for your
|
country.
|
6. Install the DRAM, PMC adapter, and compact flash components on the new
|
high-performance system card. See “Exchanging a DRAM Feature on a
|
High-Performance System Card” on page 2-20, “Exchanging a PMC Adapter”
|
on page 2-7, and “Exchanging a Compact Flash Feature” on page 2-22 for
|
installation instructions.
|
7. Slide the new card along the grooves in the slot and secure the two levers. To
|
lock the card into place, pull each lever inward.
|
8. Reattach the cables to the high-performance system card.
|
9. Power on the IBM 2212 by plugging in the power cord.
|
10. Verify the LEDs. See “LED Indicators” on page 1-2.
|
11. Connect an ASCII terminal or a PC with ASCII terminal emulation software
|
configured to use 19.2 Kbps line speed, and access the
SVC>
prompt.
|

12. At the
SVC>
prompt:

Use the describe command to list the contents of the banks on the hard
|
file or compact flash. Choose a bank to make active.
|
¹
Use the set command to set the active bank and configuration file (config).
|
After typing set and pressing Enter, you will be prompted for the rest of the
|
information. Until you reboot, this bank will be in the pending state.
|
¹
Use the writeos command to copy the abbreviated software (used as the
|
recovery image) from the pending bank on the hard file/compact flash to
|
the new standard system card flash.
|

Use the writeboot command to copy the bootstrap code from the pending
|
bank on the hard file/compact flash to the new standard system card flash.

Use the interface command to reconfigure the interface to dump over if

you want to use the network dump facility.

Use the bootmode command and choose normal boot from disk.
|
¹
Use the dump command to reconfigure the dump information. After typing

dump and pressing Enter, you will be prompted for the rest of the
|
information.
