a. Disconnect the dc power cable, the blower connector cable, and the fan
|
connector cable from the backplane.
|
Note: The dc power cable connects to the backplane at the 6-pin
|
connection. The blower cable and fan cable connect to the
|
backplane at either 2-pin connection. Using a flat-head screwdriver,
|
gently pry the cable from the backplane.
Do not pull on the wires.
|
b. Remove from the top of the blower the two screws that attach the blower to
|
the chassis. Depending on the blower model, the blower may have a wired
|
connector on one screw. Remove the screw and washer from the
|
connector. Lift out the screws and washers and set them aside.
|
c. Disconnect the hard drive IDE cable from the backplane. Return the cable
|
as indicated in the warranty for your particular country.
|
d. Connect a new hard drive IDE cable to the backplane.
|
e. Route the IDE cable over the power supply cover and under the blower.
|
f. Reinstall the blower to the chassis with the two screws and washers.
|
g. Reconnect the dc power cable connector to the backplane at the 6-pin
|
connection.
|
h. Reconnect the blower cable connector and fan cable connector to the
|
backplane at either 2-pin connection.
7. Verify that hard drive jumper is set to master. See the labeling on the hard
drive for help on verifying that the jumper is set to master.
|
8. Connect the new hard drive to the IDE (ribbon) cable and the dc power cable.
|
Route the cables as shown in Figure 2-16 on page 2-31.
9. Attach the hard drive to the base of the chassis with its four screws.
10. Reinstall the cover of the IBM 2212 using the instructions in “Reinstalling the
Cover” on page 2-5.
11. Install the system card and adapters.
12. Power on the IBM 2212 by plugging in the power cord.
13. The hard drive is shipped without code. Therefore, you must load operational
software and configuration files on the hard drive. To do so,
a. Connect an ASCII terminal or PC with ASCII terminal emulation software to
the service port. (See Chapter 3, “Accessing the IBM 2212” on page 3-1.)
b. Access the
SVC>
prompt. (See “Accessing the Service Recovery Prompt
(SVC>)” on page E-4)
c. From the
SVC>
prompt:
1) TFTP code and configuration files from your network server to the hard
drive. (See “Transferring Files Using TFTP” on page E-20.) If there is
no backup copy of the configuration files on a network server, the IBM
2212 must be reconfigured.
2) Using the copy command available at the
SVC>
prompt, copy the
contents into the other bank on the hard drive.
3) If you changed the boot settings (for example, boot from system card
flash), use the bootmode command and choose
normal boot from
disk
