| 6. Lower the adapter so that the PMC Adapter connectors are aligned with the
| sockets on the standard system card. Apply slight pressure to the PMC Adapter
| until it is seated firmly.
| 7. Insert the screws through the bottom of the system board into the PMC Adapter
| and tighten them.
| 8. Slide the system card along the grooves in the slot and secure the two levers.
| To lock the card into place, pull each lever inward.
| 9. Reattach the external cables to the standard system card.
| 10. Power on the IBM 2212 by plugging in the power cord.
| 11. Verify the LEDs. See “LED Indicators” on page 1-2.
| 12. Notify the network administrator that you are finished repairing the IBM 2212.

| Refer to “Handling Static-Sensitive Devices” on page 2-2 before exchanging the
| LAN PMC (PMC2) Adapter.
| Note: This procedure describes how to exchange the LAN PMC (PMC2) adapter
| on Models x5x.

| 1. Remove power from the IBM 2212 by unplugging the power cord.
| 2. Remove the external cables from the high-performance system card. You may
| want to label each cable as you disconnect it for ease of reconnection.
| 3. The high-performance system card is secured with two levers. To remove this
| adapter, release both levers by pushing outward on them.
| Remove the card from the IBM 2212.
