Verifying and Booting Superdome
Booting Superdome Partitions

NOTE
When power is off to the cell, it is also off to the Peripheral Controller Interface (PCI)
card cage chassis that the cell controls. If there are other I/O adapter cards that need
to be installed, now is the time to do it. If you have to install a Core I/O card, refer to
“Determining the Location of the Core I/O Card” on page 117 and “Installing a Core
I/O Card” on page 119. To install I/O adapter cards, use the instructions in
“Installing Superdome I/O Cards” on page 94.
Step 5. Power on the cell.
If you are not already at the GSP Command Menu, enter

to return to the Main Menu.
1. At the GSP Main Menu, enter

If you are at the BCH prompt, enter
Ctrl B
to return to the GSP.
2. Enter
pe
(for Power Entity).
3. Enter
c
(for cell).
4. Enter the same cabinet and slot information you entered in step 2d above.

It takes two to four minutes to power on the cell and the PCI cards in the card cage. Green
lights in the card cage power on for each slot in a predefined order.
6. Check that the green LED on the cell board and the green LEDs on the card cage are on.

Booting UNIX on the Partition(s)
WARNING
Do not mix original cell or Caribe cell boards with within the same partition.
WARNING
Do not mix CPU ASICs (PA8600 vs. PA8700) on either the original or Caribe cell
boards.
To boot UNIX on a partition:
Step 1. At the GSP Main Menu, enter

If you are at the BCH prompt, enter
Ctrl B
to return to the GSP Main Menu.
If you are at the GSP CM Menu, enter
ma
to return to the GSP Main Menu.
Step 2. Identity the partition you want to boot.
Use the list of partitions in Table 4-1 to keep track of the partitions you boot.
You can boot the partitions in any order.
Step 3. At the BCH prompt, enter
bo
.
