Step 1. Connect one end of the customer-supplied LAN cable to the right RJ-45 connector, labeled
10BASE-T LAN Console, at the bottom rear of the SMS. See Figure 3-30 on page 68.
NOTE The LAN console port is a 10 Base-T only.
The hub must be 10 or 10/100 Base-T.
Step 2. Connect the other end of the LAN cable to the customer’s hub.
Setting the LAN Console IP Address on the SMS
Setting the LAN console IP address on the SMS is similar to setting up the private and customer LAN IP
addresses on the Superdome system. You use the SMS GSP lc command to set the address.
To set the customer and private LAN IP addresses:
Step 1. From the CE Tool, login to the SMS GSP and press Enter.
You should see the prompt, Service Processor login. If the SMS was already present at the customer
site, you will have to get the login and password. For new SMSs, however, you can press Enter to
temporarily bypass the login and password prompts. Then you can set these values later.
Step 2. From the SMS GSP Command Menu prompt (GSP:CM>), enter
lc
(for LAN Configuration), and
press Enter.
The screen displays the default values and asks if you want to modify them. It is a good idea to
write down the information, as it may be required for future troubleshooting.
When you enter
lc
, the following screen appears:
