Battery Removal
The battery (1) is located in a compartment behind the
left side cover.
1. Remove the left side cover (page 44) and the
battery holder (2) by removing the bolt (3).
2. Disconnect the negative (–) terminal lead (4) from
the battery first, then disconnect the positive (+)
terminal lead (5).
3. Remove the battery from its compartment.

Stoplight Switch
(Refer to “Maintenance Precautions” on page 60.)
Check the operation of the stoplight switch (1)
periodically. The switch is located on the right side
behind the engine.
Turn the adjusting nut (2) in direction (A) if the switch
operates too late, and in direction (B) if the switch
operates too soon.
To adjust the switch, turn only the adjusting nut. Do
not turn the switch body.
