Air Cleaner
(Refer to “Maintenance Precautions” on page 60.)
The motorcycle should never be ridden without the
air cleaner. If it is not installed, dust and dirt will
enter the engine causing premature wear to the
carburetor, cylinder and piston rings. Also, the air
cleaner is fitted with a mesh that prevents flame
return through the intake duct. If the air cleaner is
missing, the motorcycle may be damaged or a fire
may result.
The air cleaner should be serviced at the intervals
specified in the Maintenance Schedule (page 58).
Service more frequently when riding in unusually wet
or dusty areas.
1. Remove the right side cover (page 43).
2. Remove the screws (2) and the air cleaner cover (1).
3. Remove the air cleaner element (3) and clean or
discard it as specified in the Maintenance Schedule.
4. Install a new element. Use only a genuine Honda
element specified for this motorcycle. The use of a
different element may lead to engine premature wear
or poor motorcycle performance.
5. Install the air cleaner element.
6. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of
removal.
!
WARNING
NOTA
The air cleaner should be serviced more frequently
when riding in unusually wet or dusty areas.
