Adding engine coolant
For engine coolant specifications
and water-to-coolant ratio, see
Recommended fluids, lubricants and
parts on page 241. Always use the
specified ratio.
1. Mix a solution of Holden coolant
and clean fresh water.
2. Turn the ignition control knob to
the lock position.
3. Wait for the engine to cool.
4. Undo the cap on top of the
coolant reservoir.
5. Add the coolant solution.
6. Secure the cap.
Note
Failure to use coolant meeting
Holden’s specifications, or
maintaining the specified
concentration, may result in voiding
the New Vehicle Voluntary Warranty.
In emergency situations, plain clean
fresh water may be used temporarily
until the correct Holden coolant is
obtained. Replace as soon
as possible from the nearest
Holden Dealer.
How the engine coolant works
• The coolant contains special
corrosion inhibitors.
• Coolant helps the cooling system
in hot weather by increasing the
boiling point.
• Coolant protects against freezing
down to –30°C, provided the
specified concentration is
maintained.
If the coolant requires regular
topping up, contact a Holden Dealer.
Warning
Do not over fill the coolant
reservoir.
Only use specified coolant, see
Recommended fluids, lubricants
and parts on page 241. Do not
mix different coolants as this
may damage the engine cooling
system.
Remove the coolant reservoir
filler cap only.
Always check the coolant level
when the engine is cold. Steam
and scalding liquids from a hot
cooling system can blow out and
cause serious burns.
Do not spill coolant on the
vehicle’s exterior surfaces as it
can damage the paintwork. If you
do, wash it off immediately.
