152 Driving and operating
Front Wheel Drive (FWD)
The FWD Captiva is designed
primarily for on-road use.
The vehicle may be used on well
maintained unsealed (gravel) roads.
Level ride suspension
The vehicle may have level ride
suspension.
The level ride suspension system
automatically adjusts the suspension
level while the vehicle is moving.
When a load is placed in the rear
of the vehicle, the suspension is
slowly lifted upward to its previous
unloaded level.
This improves the ride and handling
when the rear of the vehicle is
loaded.
Driving on wet roads
Tyre grip
Tyre grip decreases when water,
snow, ice, gravel or other materials
are on the road. Adjust your driving
to the road conditions:
• Reduce speeds during wet
conditions.
• Replace tyres when tread
wear indicators are visible. See
Tread depth on page 221.
• Regularly check that tyres are
properly inflated. See Wheels
and tyres on page 219.
Mud and snow tyres
Warning
The use of tyres that are a
different size or construction i.e.
mud or snow tyres, may adversely
affect the Electronic Stability
Control (ESC) system.
When fitted with winter tread
tyres, the vehicle should not be
driven at speeds in excess of the
tyre category symbol as moulded
on the tyre, or in the absence
thereof, at high speeds.
