Butterfly Mixing (B. FLY GLID Only) cont.
- Scroll to select “ON” and press the jog dial to confirm your
selection. If you toggle the selected switch, the field in the top
right corner of the screen will indicate when the mix is active.
18. Scroll to highlight the “T.STICK” field and press the jog dial to
activate the menu.
a. If you choose “LINE” (linear) the mix will be applied
proportionally to throttle position. For fully linear movement,
verify that the throttle position menu shows the mix to be on at
both ends of the throttle range, and the middle value is “100”.
19. Scroll to select the movement type for the throttle stick. Press the jog dial to confirm your selection.
The SPEED value is ignored when linear movement is selected.

- The throttle position menu will appear. Scroll to highlight the
throttle position that you will use to enable the mix. Press the
jog dial to confirm your selection.
- Scroll to select “ON” and press the jog dial to confirm your
selection.
b. If you choose “SYM.” (symmetric), the mix will be applied fully when the throttle position crosses a
defined threshold:
- Scroll to select the middle value field and press the jog dial to
activate the menu.
- Rotate the jog dial to position the top of the bar graph at the
throttle position where the mix will be enabled. As you move the
throttle stick, the field in the top right corner of the screen will
indicate when the mix is active.
20. Press the back button four times to return to the model function menu.
Butterfly Mixing (B. FLY GLID Only) cont.
If you are using multiple flight conditions, you must define butterfly values for each flight
condition. The top field of the B-fly menu allows you to select the desired flight condition.
Alternately, you may select the desired flight condition using the assigned F.Cond switch.

To disable butterfly:
1. Scroll to highlight the “MIX” field in the butterfly menu and
press the jog dial to activate the menu.
2. Select “INH” (inhibit) and press the jog dial to confirm your
selection.
3. Press the back button to return to the model function menu.
Gyro
It is often desirable to use a gyro to help stabilize one or more flight axes on fixed-wing models. The Flash
8 provides controls for gyros in three axes. The gyro settings can also be specified for each defined flight
condition.
1. From the model menu, rotate the jog dial to highlight “GYRO”
and press the jog dial once to enter the activation menu.
2. Press the jog dial again to activate the menu.
3. Rotate the jog dial to select “ACT” (activate), then press the jog
dial to confirm your selection and activate the gyro menu.
4. Scroll to the “GY-1” field and press the jog button to activate
the menu.
The GYRO function must be assigned to a channel before this option will appear in the Model
function menu. See Section 3 for instructions regarding the Channel menu.

5. Rotate the jog dial to dial in the desired amount of gyro gain
for the Gyro-1 axis (consult the gyro manufacturer’s instructions
for guidance).
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for any other gyro axes listed.
