Install the drives in the RAID cage as described in “Installing the
drives” on page 74.
8. Power up the system and build the RAID as described in the software
manual for the RAID controller you are using.
Connecting the cables
Once the backplane is configured, connect the cables from the power
supply and the RAID controller.
1.
Use a single cable and enable termination (jumper removed from JP3)
so that the system will operate properly.
2. Plug one end of the SCSI cable into the RAID cage and the other end
into the RAID SCSI controller, which will be controlling the RAID
cage. Be sure to enable termination on this channel.
3. Reinstall the top cover.
4. Power-up the system and install any device drivers required by the
SCSI controller for your operating system. Follow the instructions in
the documentation that came with your SCSI controller for more
information on setting up the SCSI controller.

Install the hard disk drives as explained below and as shown in the
illustration Installing the Drive on page 75.
Installing the drives
The RAID Cage accommodates up to three SCA drives. Drives are
mounted on a rail system that allows quick and easy installation, as well as
hot-swapping.
1. Label the SCSI Channel and the SCSI ID numbers on the front of the
drive.

Each drive has a Drive
Number label affixed to the
front of the drive. The drive
number on the label
