OPERATION
Automated transmission and shifting
A transmission with 12 forward and 2 reverse
gears is provided in Ford Cargo vehicles with
automated transmission*. **
No clutch pedal is available in the vehicle.
Clutch release/clutch operation is performed
by the mechanism controlled by the electronic
control module.
System components
Rotating knob:
It is placed in front of the shift lever.
D: forward gear
N: N/A
R: Reverse Gear
DM: Forward Manoeuvre (only used while
coasting)
RM: Reverse Manoeuvre (only used while
coasting)
* : Automated transmission is not provided in
standard vehicle package; it is optional.
** : Transmission model code can vary according to
the features such as PTO and/or intarder.
Shift Lever:
Forward movement:
It has 2 ranges. 1st
range shifts up 1 gear, and 2nd range shifts up
2 gears (only in manual mode)
Reverse movement:
It has 2 ranges. 1st
range shifts down 1 gear, and 2nd range shifts
down 2 gears (only in manual mode)
Left movement:
Changes the transmission
mode.
Shifts to automatic if it is in manual mode, and
to manual mode if it is in automatic mode.
S (Search mode):
While driving with the
manual mode, transmission shall select the
best gear for the current driving conditions
when the shift lever knob is moved to right.
• Transmission shifts to most economical
mode if engine brake is not activated (low
engine speed)
• If the engine brake is activated, transmission
shifts down to increase engine speed
Information Display:
Otomatik modda
Engaged gear is displayed on the upper left
corner of the trip computer.
D: forward gear
R: Reverse
Example: D4 Forward 4th gear
In Manual mode
Downshift
Downshift 2 gears
Automatic and Manual Operation:
Automatic:
Transmission electrical control unit
selects the best gear according to the engine
and load status. Gear selection and shifts are
performed automatically. False gear selection
is not possible.
• Transmission decides take-off gear and gearshifts.
