4.2 SIEMENS: Bus configuration and addressing
Please note
Various configuration programs are available for use in
conjunction with a Siemens master. Please observe the
relevant procedure with your configuration program.
The following chapters describe as an example the most im-
portant steps required for configuring the Festo valve ter-
minal with the COM PROFIBUS software or with STEP 7. In the
following, it is assumed that the user is already familiar with
the contents of the manual for the COM PROFIBUS software
or for STEP 7.
The configuration programs are subject to modifications that
may not as yet have been taken into consideration in this
manual.
Before commissioning or programming, compile a configur-
ation list of all connected field bus slaves. Based on this list:
– a NOMINAL-ACTUAL comparison between configurations
can be made to detect connection errors.
– these specifications can be accessed during the syntax
check of a program, in order to avoid addressing errors.
Configuration of the valve terminal requires a very accurate
procedure, as different configuration specifications are re-
quired for each terminal, due, amongst other things, to the
modular structure of each system. Please observe here the
instructions in the following sections.
