Battery Replacement
Before attempting to carry out any electric service of the vehicle equipped with program
controlled guidance system, the Run-Tow/Maintenance switch must be set to its
'Tow/Maintenance' position.
Remove the battery clamp plate and the electric cable, and lift the battery with a commercially available
battery lifting device.
If the batteries have been cleaned and any acid in the battery rack area neutralized on a regular basis,
no corrosion to the battery racks or surrounding area should be present. If any corrosion is found, it
should be immediately removed with a putty knife and a wire brush. The corroded location shall be
cleaned with mixed liquor of sodium acid carbonate (baking soda) and water; when it gets dry thoroughly,
apply priming paint before anticorrosive paint.
Battery should be located on the battery rack, the battery clamp plate should be tightened to torque of
1bs so as to avoid displacement and the distortion of battery casing due to excessive tightness.
Check all wires and terminals. In case the battery terminals or wire joints are eroded, use sodium acid
carbonate baking soda) solution to clean them, and clean them with brush if necessary.
Aerosol containers of battery terminal protectant must be used with extreme care. Insulate the
metal container to prevent the metal can from contacting battery terminals which could result in
an explosion.
