3.5. Compactors
There are three different compactors:
PET
, can, and glass. The compactors can be run by a 208-240
V
or
400
V
3-phase motor, depending on the site requirements. Each compactor has a proximity sensor that
monitors the speed of the rollers, allowing the rvm controller to calculate whether there is a sorter jam
3.5.1. PET Compactor
The
AC
motor turns three shafts: one for the paddle that pulls the containers into the compaction
chamber, and two for the rollers that flatten the bottles. The two rollers have small “pin” extrusions on
them. These pins staple the bottles flat.
