1. Fuel Tank - Defueling
A. General
(1) This task gives the procedure to defuel the aircraft by gravity.
(2) The fuel tanks are defueled through the dump valves installed in the lowest
part of each fuel tank, near the wing root and the centerline of the aircraft.
B. Job Set-Up
(1) Do the procedure to make the aircraft safe for maintenance (GHSH TASK
20-00-00-910-801-A).
(2) Do the procedure to make the aircraft safe for maintenance of the fuel sys-
tem (GHSH TASK 28-00-00-910-801-A).
(3) Statically ground the aircraft (GHSH TASK 20-40-02-910-801-A).
NOTE:
Make all grounding connections between the fuel sources, air-
craft, and fuel nozzle (refer to the requirements of the local
regulatory authorities).
(4) Energize the aircraft with an external DC (Direct Current) power supply
(GHSH TASK 24-41-00-860-801-A).
(5) Open the access door 194BL.
WARNING: DO NOT LET JET FUEL AND LUBRICATING OILS TOUCH
YOU. THESE FLUIDS CAUSE INJURY TO THE SKIN.
(6) Remove the drain valve:
(a) Put a container (1 gal.) below the drain valve.
(b) Remove the screws from the drain valve.
(c) Install two of the removed screws in the drain-valve removal nuts.
(d) Pull the drain valve through the screws and remove the drain valve
from the dump valve.
NOTE:
In cold weather, use a pair of pliers to help in the pulling of
the drain valve.
(e) Discard the face seal O-ring.
C. Fuel Tank - Gravity Defueling
WARNING: DO NOT LET JET FUEL AND LUBRICATING OILS TOUCH
YOU. THESE FLUIDS CAUSE INJURY TO THE SKIN.
(1) Install two of the removed screws from the drain valve in the dump valve
180° apart from each other.
NOTE:
Do not tighten the screws fully. Let a gap of approximately 2 -
3 mm (0.08 - 0.12 in.) stay between the screw head and the
dump valve flange.
(2) Push up and turn counter-clockwise the defueling tool (GSE 023) until it is
