1. External Aircraft - Cleaning
A. General
(1) This task gives the instructions to clean the aircraft.
(2) Clean the external aircraft surfaces frequently to keep them with their
good visual properties and resistance to corrosion.
(3) Always clean the aircraft external surfaces from the top to the bottom.
(4) The aircraft external dirt can be light (dust, mud, etc.) or heavy (grease,
exhaust deposits, oil, etc.).
B. Job Set-Up
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE
CONDITION BEFORE YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT INJURY TO
PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: DURING THE CLEANING PROCEDURE, DO NOT LET
THE CLEANING SOLUTION TOUCH YOU AND DO NOT
BREATHE
ITS
VAPORS
OR
MISTS.
DO
THE
PROCEDURE IN AN AREA WITH A GOOD AIRFLOW.
PUT ON SAFETY CLOTHES, GOGGLES, AND GLOVES.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU CLEAN AN EXHAUST SURFACE, MAKE
SURE THAT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IS COLD.
CLEANING PRODUCTS ARE FLAMMABLE AND, IF YOU
APPLY THEM TO HOT SURFACES, INJURY TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE CLEANING
PRODUCT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ARE OBEYED. USE
PROTECTION GOGGLES AND CLOTHES. DO NOT LET
CLEANING PRODUCT TOUCH YOUR SKIN, EYES, OR
CLOTHES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION,
DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT AND/OR INJURY TO
PERSONNEL CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: • DO THIS PROCEDURE IN AN AREA WITH A GOOD
FLOW OF AIR.
• PUT ON MASK, SAFETY GOGGLES, AND RUBBER OR
LATEX GLOVES WHEN YOU TOUCH BIRD REMAINS.
• DISCARD THE RUBBER OR LATEX GLOVES THAT YOU
USED.
• WHEN YOU HANDLE BIRD STRIKE REMAINS, OBEY
THE LOCAL AUTHORITY RULES TO PREVENT
HEALTH PROBLEMS.
