1. Towing With Towbar - Procedure
A. General
(1) The aircraft towing is the usual procedure when it is necessary to move
the aircraft on the ground.
B. Job Set-Up
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE
CONDITION BEFORE YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT INJURY TO
PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make sure that the landing gear safety pins are installed (GHSH TASK 32-
00-00-910-801-A/200).
NOTE
: The use of safety pins on MLG and NLG is optional when you
tow or push the aircraft. This occurs when the aircraft is in
position for the flight crew to taxi before or after a flight.
CAUTION
: REMOVE ALL TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND MATERIALS
FROM THE TOWING AREA. MAKE SURE THAT THE AREA
IS CLEAN.
(2) Before you start the towing operation, remove the unnecessary objects
from around the aircraft.
(3) Make sure that aircraft is in safe condition before the towing procedure.
NOTE
: If the aircraft had a flat tire while parked or moving on the
ground, you must replace this tire because it is permanently
damaged.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO THE TOWING PROCEDURE, MAKE
SURE THAT THE LOWER PART OF THE TORQUE LINK
IS DISCONNECTED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS
PRECAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE NLG AND INJURY TO
PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
(4) Disconnect the torque link from the nose landing gear (Figure 201) as follows:
(a) Remove the quick disconnect pin.
(b) Install the torque link to the upper support.
(c) Install the torque-link quick disconnect pin to the upper support.
(5) Install the towbar head (GSE 026 ) to the towbar (GSE 027) (Figure 202).
NOTE
: Make sure that the shear pin of the towbar head is in good
condition.
(6) Connect the towbar head (GSE 026) to the Nose Landing Gear tow fitting
as follows:
