1. Normal Parking in Cold Weather Conditions - Maintenance Practices
A. General
(1) This task gives the procedure for normal parking in cold weather condition.
(2) A cold weather condition is when the temperature is lower than 0°C
(32°F).
(3) Normal Parking in cold weather includes overnight parking.
B. Job Set-Up
(1) Obey the procedures given in GHSH TASK 10-10-00-500-801-A/200.
C. Normal Parking in Cold Weather Condition - Maintenance Practices
(1) If the parking area has ice or snow, put one of these items under the tires,
as applicable:
(a) A mat, or
(b) A layer of thick sand or
(c) Other applicable material.
NOTE
: This will prevent the freezing of the tires to the ground.
CAUTION
: WHILE THE AIRCRAFT IS PARKED, EXAMINE THE WINGS
AND STABILIZERS AT REGULAR INTERVALS AND, IF
NECESSARY, APPLY DEICING/ANTI-ICING FLUIDS TO
THESE AREAS. YOU MUST ALSO EXAMINE FOR THE
PRESENCE OF DEICING/ANTI-ICING FLUID RESIDUES IN
HIDDEN PLACES OF THE WINGS AND STABILIZERS AND,
IF NECESSARY, REMOVE THESE RESIDUES. IF YOU DO
NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE AIR-
CRAFT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION
: REPETITIVE APPLICATION OF THICKENED DEICING/
ANTI-ICING FLUID CAN CAUSE THE FORMATION/
BUILDUP OF DRIED RESIDUES. DRIED RESIDUES CAN
OCCUR WHEN SURFACES ARE TREATED BUT THE AIR-
CRAFT DOES NOT FLY SUBSEQUENTLY, AND IS NOT
SUBJECT
TO
PRECIPITATION.
AN
APPROPRIATE
INSPECTION AND CLEANING PROGRAM MUST BE
ESTABLISHED.
(2) Perform frequent visual inspections not to permit accumulation of snow or
ice on the aircraft.
(3) Make sure that the wheel chocks are installed to the LG wheels.
(4) Make sure that you obeyed the procedures for waste tank given in GHSH
TASK 10-10-00-500-801-A/200.
(5) Make sure that you obeyed the procedures for water tank given in GHSH
TASK 10-10-00-500-801-A/200.
(6) If the temperature is foreseen to be less than -18 °C (0 °F), remove the
main battery (GHSH TASK 24-36-01-000-801-A/400).
