1. Main Battery - Removal
A. General
(1) This task gives the procedure to remove the main batteries.
(2) There are 2 batteries. Battery 1 is installed in the RH (Right Hand) forward
compartment, and battery 2 is installed in a non-controlled environment
compartment in the RH (Right Hand) wing-to-fuselage aft.
B. Job Set-Up
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE
CONDITION BEFORE YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT INJURY TO
PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do the procedure to make the aircraft safe for maintenance (GHSH TASK
20-00-00-910-801-A/200).
(2) On the ELECTRICAL control panel, put a DO NOT OPERATE, tag on the
BATT 1 and BATT 2 switches. Refer to Figure 401.
(3) To get access to battery 1, do as follows:
(a) Open the forward baggage door.
(b) Remove the access panel 212CZ.
(4) To get access to battery 2, do as follows:
(a) Open the access door 195FR.
C. Main Battery - Removal
(1) Remove battery 1 as follows: (Refer to Figure 402)
(a) Loosen the clamp that attaches the air-escape hose to battery 1.
(b) Move the clamp to the center of the air-escape hose.
(c) Pull the air-escape hose from the battery 1 outlet.
(d) Remove the clamp from air-escape hose.
WARNING: USE EYE PROTECTION WHEN YOU REMOVE OR
INSTALL LOCK WIRE OR SAFETY CABLE. IF YOU
DO NOT USE EYE PROTECTION, PIECES OF WIRE
CAN HIT YOUR EYES AND CAUSE INJURY TO THEM.
(e) Cut the lock wire from the electrical connector.
(f) Disconnect the electrical connector from the connector of the battery 1.
(g) Put a protective cap on the electrical connector and on the connector
of the battery 1.
(h) Carefully pull and remove the battery 1 from the aircraft.
(2) Remove battery 2 as follows: (Refer to Figure 403)
