Weld Profile
Weld Profile
is the next Process Setup submenu.
This setting determines whether a constant force or
speed is applied during the weld process or whether a
10-segment profile of forces or speeds is applied
.
Constant Speed or Force
-
The constant speed
or force specified by the user is applied to the servo
for the duration of the weld.
Figure 5-17 to the right shows that
Constant Weld
Speed
needs to be set when choosing
Constant
.
Segmented Speed or Force
-
The speed
or force profile entails a set of 10 parameters that
determine what speed or force is applied during the
specified segment of the weld process.
See Figure 5-18 and Figure 5-19 to the right.
Distance Increment
-
When the weld method
is energy or peak power, a user-specified distance
increment is required to determine the length of each
of the profile segments to track when to transition
from one profile segment to the next.
Enable Melt Detect
-
Enabling
Melt Detect
allows for greater control of the part's collapse speed
profile. When enabled, another parameter must be
addressed:
After Force Drops By
.
After Force Drops By -
The melt detect portion
of the weld is linked to the force applied by the
press, but only
after
the initial force drops by a given
percentage. It is this percentage that is entered for this
parameter (in the range of 0% to 50%).
