5 Programming the system

Configuring central DECT data

EMC:

European Manufacturer's Code. This is a pre-defined identification code which

every manufacturer must obtain for the DECT systems manufactured by him. Cur-
rently, the code for the varix 200 system is 0024 and 0025 for the varix 14. This
code only has a limited "service life". The manufacturer must apply for a new EMC
when a specified number of systems of the respective model have been manufactu-
red

PABXID: A sort of serial number within the respective EMC. Any one PABXID may only be

used

once

in conjunction with a specific EMC! Only the centrally assigned PABXID

may be used.

PL:

PABX level. The PL defines the relationship between the number of PABX systems

and the number of base stations for a given EMC. In other words, it is permissible
to install either many PABX systems with few base stations each or a small number
of systems with many base stations each. For the varix 200 system, the PL is cur-
rently 29 and for the varix 14 it is 34. This means that the relationship is 1024
systems with up to 128 BS each.

AC:

Authentication Code (central). A secret code (password) under which the portable

parts (PPs) log in. If the subscriber does not specify an AC for a PP, it will be ass-
igned the central authentication code by default. However, an individual AC can
be entered for each PP (using TOD 98D, cf. respective sections). The default value
is 12345678.

LAL:

Local Area Level = 0. (This function is currently not supported.)

Attach:

noAttach. This function is currently not supported. If the function is activated (i.e.

Attach), even inactive portable parts (i.e. in stand-by mode) will register with the
base station as being operative (i.e. ready to receive calls). This ensures that the
current location and status of all active portable parts is always known.
In the noAttach setting, the location of a portable part will only become known to
the PABX after a specific activity has taken place (service procedure or a call).
