Measurement procedure
Take the reference base station (FP: Funkfeld) out of the measuring kit and place it in the loca-
tion where you intend to install the system base station. Remember to observe the recom-
mended mounting height (cf. chapter 2.4.2). As the mounting position is usually above head
level (> 2 m), you will need a suitable mount, stand or tripod. The distance from the wall
should be as small as possible, so that the reference base station is as close to the planned
mounting location as possible. Now switch on the reference base station (simply switch on
the power without connecting it to the PABX system).
Monitor Mode
varix M2
To measure the field strength, switch on the portable part in "MONITOR MODE" (measure-
ment mode) as described in the varix M2 operating manual, "Local settings", menu item
MONITOR MODE (code 2530).
If you are able to log in successfully, the display will give the following read-out after a few
seconds, for example:
very good connection
or
satisfactory connection
or
poor connection
It is possible to switch over to monitor mode during an active call connection to display the
fixed part of the current connection and the radio characteristics (field strength). To do this,
enter the service procedure S019_SET. The display will then show the RFPI (Radio Fixed Part
Identity) and the radio field strength. Exit the procedure by pressing the service key (
➡
) and
switch back to the call.
