Description varix 200/varix 14 (DECT)
2 Planning a cordless communications network
How many DECT subscribers are there in the area?
Answering this question should help in estimating the level of tel-
ephone traffic in the initial installation and for subsequent
expansion. This affects the number of FPs and ensures that
installations will have sufficient cabling for the future.
Not only should subscribers whose workplace is within the
defined area be considered, but also those passing through the
area and those participating in business meetings in the area.
In order to gauge possible measures for handling an increase
in telephone traffic, planning should be undertaken both for an
initial installation and for final installation or even for a phase
beyond. This ensures that cabling able to support future expan-
sion of the network can already be installed during the initial
installation.
If the customer is unable to provide the necessary details, then
default values should be assumed (refer to ETSI table in the
appendix).

What is the rate of telephone traffic anticipated for an individ-
ual subscriber?
If the customer is unable to provide the necessary details, then
default values should be assumed (refer to ETSI table in the
appendix).
Where is it permitted to lay cables
This set of questions determines the time/workload required for
installation. If DeTeWe specialists are not to carry out the job
themselves, then corresponding targets should be set for the
respective installation company. In this case also, installation
plans should be drawn up.
