= Adaptive differential pulse code modulation, a modulation and compression method used
for digital speech transmission
DECT
= Digital European Cordless Telecommunications, a European standard for cordless telecom-
munications

= European Manufacturers Code
ETSI
= European Telecommunications Standards Institute
FP
= Fixed part (also called base station in this document).
IPEI
= International portable equipment identity, an identification number, unique in the whole
world, assigned to a portable part.
LAL
= Location Area Level
PABX
= Private automatic branch exchange
PABXID
= PABX identification (serial number of the PABX system)
PARK
= Portable access rights key (access rights key for portable part)
PL
= PABX level, relationship between number of PABXs of the respective type and number of
fixed parts per PABX.
PP
= Portable part, mobile telephone set e.g. varix M 2.
RFPI
= Radio fixed part identification.
