6. W hile maintaining gentle pressure on the
sides of the inner tool, slow ly turn the w ing
nut clockwise. This lifts the CPU from its
socket evenly.

7. Put the CPU in a safe place so that you may
reinstall it later if necessary.
Tip: After you install the Turbo 040, use
the protective foam you w ill be rem oving
from the adapter board to protect the pin s
on your CPU an d AMU.
Tip: Store the chips inside the M ac up in
front o f the motherboard. They will be
easy to fin d if you ever need them. Do not
allow a n y metal parts o f the stored chips
to make contact with the motherboard.

Repeat the process to remove the black AMU
chip w hich is located above the 68020 proces
sor socket (see Figure 18 on page 42). W hen
placing the inner tool over the AMU chip, be
sure that the teeth of the tool are betw een the
AMU and the socket and NOT betw een the
socket and the motherboard.
