4.8.2 SCRAMNet on DEC Computers
Some DEC computers use PCI controllers that execute PCI write transactions with no
byte enables (no data to be written). The SCRAMNet card can be set to tolerate these
transactions at the expense of minor performance degradation by setting DEC_IGNORE
CSR10[0] to ‘0’.
For improved performance on all other platforms, set DEC_IGNORE CSR10[0] to ‘1’.
This is the factory default setting.
4.8.3 EEPROM Initialization
The EEPROM is used to store the initial power-up register values. The EEPROM can be
programmed either over the host backplane or by most PROM programmers. An
EEPROM initialization (EPI) program is included in the Curtiss-Wright Controls
Software Utilities Package for most systems.
The card comes with power-up default values in each of the registers and default switch
settings so the card can be used without making any changes. Defaults are shown in
Table 4-4 and Table 4-5 where 000 = CSR0, 002 = CSR1, 004 = CSR2. Both location
006 and 008 write to CSR3, TX_ID, RX_ID. This is possible because CSR4 is Read
Only. Then location 00A = CSR5, etc.

NOTE:
XX denotes TX_ID and RX_ID. Both values are the same.
These values are assigned to the Control/Status Registers on power-up. The values may
be changed at any time using the appropriate software to access the CSRs. When the
system is powered down and powered up again, the CSRs will be reinitialized to these
EEPROM values. Only the first 16 or 17 values are used in the registers.
