WARNING:
Shock and patient hazard: Users may not modify any components of the INVOS™ system or its
software.
WARNING:
Explosion hazard: Do not use the INVOS™ system in the presence of flammable anesthetics or in
other flammable environments.
WARNING:
Cross-contamination hazard: The INVOS™ adult regional saturation sensor, pediatric regional
saturation sensor, and OxyAlert NIRSensor are designed for single use only and may not be reused.
Reuse may cause inaccurate readings, erratic readings, or no readings at all. Also, reuse may cause
an increased risk of cross-contamination among patients.
WARNING:
Patient hazard: The INVOS™ adult regional saturation sensor, pediatric regional saturation sensor,
and OxyAlert NIRSensor are designed for external use only as described in the instructions. Do not
use the sensors internally for any reason.
WARNING:
Fire hazard: Do not block airflow to the back of the INVOS™ monitor.
WARNING:
The clinical value of trend data has not been demonstrated in disease states. The INVOS™ system
should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis or therapy. It is intended only as an adjunct in
patient assessment. It must be used in conjunction with clinical signs and symptoms.
WARNING:
Do not set alarm limits to extreme values that can render the INVOS™ system ineffective. Ensure
alarm limits are appropriate for each patient.
WARNING:
Do not silence, pause, or decrease the volume of audible alarms if patient safety could be
compromised.
WARNING:
A hazard can exist if different alarm presets are used for the same equipment in a single area, such
as an operating theater or intensive care unit. Verify alarm limits with each patient.
WARNING:
While the INVOS™ system is connected to a remote display, the remote display will not generate
alarm signals if communication between that display and the INVOS™ system is interrupted.
