Care of and Removing the Sensor
Although the sensor is a nonsterile, disposable item, it should be treated with proper care to
prevent damage or data corruption.
To remove any sensor from the sensor cable, grip the blue sensor and cable connectors while
pulling out. Do not pull on any cables. Avoid straining or twisting the reusable sensor cable.
Caution:
Use care when removing the sensor from the patient. If difficult to remove, follow your
institution’s patient care protocol to prevent damage to the patient's skin.

Caution:
Sensors do not need to be removed for x-ray or CT scan. However, sensors will appear on image.
Sensors must be removed for MRI.

OxyAlert NIRSensor Preuse Check
WARNING:
The disposable OxyAlert NIRSensor has a small adhesive pad and a gentle hydrocolloid adhesive.
It is designed for use with pediatric/neonatal patients monitored with the INVOS™ system. Use of
the OxyAlert NIRSensor with any other device may compromise patient safety.
Caution:
Use care when placing or removing sensor. Do not place on broken or undeveloped skin.
Remove the sensor from the package and examine for visual signs of damage. If any signs of
damage are observed, select another OxyAlert NIRSensor.
