Baseline Set and Status Database Operational Mode
WARNING:
For area under the curve (AUC) to calculate you must set left and right baselines prior to induction
in real-time or accept the auto-baseline value when prompted by the device (approximately 5
minutes after first rSO
2
data is received). Baselines should not be reentered at any other time or
the integrity of AUC will be compromised. Similarly, entering skin closure will cease calculation of
AUC.
An rSO
2
baseline should be set so subsequent cerebral oximetry metrics and rSO
2
changes from
baseline can be measured. The rSO
2
numbers will turn red if rSO
2
is above or below set alarm
thresholds. A red baseline status indicates a desaturation ≥20% or ≤40 rSO
2
value.
As soon as rSO
2
trend data begins to be gathered and patient condition is stable, an awake base-
line reading should be obtained (for example, for surgical patients, prior to induction). Baseline or
baselines may be set for all channels in use at once, individually for the selected channel or chan-
nels or automatically to an rSO
2
value 5–6 minutes after an rSO
2
value is obtained.
Set Current rSO
2
as Baseline for All Channels
To set a baseline, press the HOME
key to display the Main screen, then perform the following
navigation bar options:
The baseline value or values will be set at the current rSO
2
value or values, and the menu will
return to the Main screen. This will display an event mark line and code on the screen in the graph
of each channel.
Set Individual Channels to Current rSO
2
Baseline in 2-Channel Monitoring
To set an individual channel baseline, press the HOME
key to display the Main screen, then
perform the following navigation bar options:
Select the channel or channels to set the baseline at the current rSO
2
value. This will display an
event mark line and code on the screen in the graph area for the individual channel only.
