7 - MAINTENANCE

Every 50 hours

Fuel pre-filter - draining condensation (580ST / 590ST / 695ST)

WARNING

Fire hazard! Avoid injury and/or machine damage!
During maintenance activities, make sure that the high-pressure fuel lines are not damaged. A fuel
leak from the high-pressure fuel lines can cause an accident and/or serious personal injury. If the fuel
lines are damaged, contact your dealer immediately.
Failure to comply could result in death or serious injury.

1. Move the machine to a level and firm ground.

2. Raise the loader attachment and engage the safety

strut.

3. Place the backhoe attachment in the road travel posi-

tion.

4. Place the direction-of-travel lever and gearshift lever in

neutral position.

5. Engage the parking brake.

6. Stop the engine and remove the starter switch key.

7. Wait the time necessary to allow the engine and the fuel

system to cool down.

8. Open the engine compartment hood.

9. Place a container under the filter. Drain the water and

sediments from the fuel filter

through the draining

valve

(2)

• From the bottom of the filter, remove the connector

• Install a

3 ft

) long drain tube onto the draining

valve and put the other end of the tube into the con-
tainer.

• Loosen the draining valve about two turns. As soon

as clean fuel exits the drain tube close the draining
valve.

• Tighten the draining valve. Do not over tighten the

drain valve.

• Bleed air from the fuel system, see

7-101

.

NOTE:

The draining interval can be increased or de-

creased, depending on the presence of water and the
quantity of fuel.
