4 - OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Defective battery check:
Check whether the battery of the receiving machine
(discharged battery) is in working order:
1. Switch off all electrical accessories (lights, fans).
2. Insert the ignition key, the warning lamps for the en-
gine check must turn on.
3. If warning lamps do not turn on, the battery is defec-
tive, install a functional battery before jump-starting.
NOTICE:
In this case the machine must not be started,
as the alternator would then be damaged.
Assisted starting connections
1. Switch off all electrical accessories in the receiving
machine and turn key switch to position 0.
2. Switch off all accessories in the supplying machine
(booster battery) and shut off engine.
3. Connect the red jumper cable to the positive clamp of
the discharged battery

4. Connect the other end of the red jumper cable to the
positive clamp of the booster battery
(2)

5. Connect the black jumper cable to the negative clamp
of the booster battery
(2)
.
6. Connect the other end of the black jumper cable to the
frame on the receiving machine
(3)
, as far away as
possible from negative clamp of the discharged bat-
tery.

Starting the engine
1.
Start the engine of the supplying machine.
2.
Increase the engine RPM.
3.
Start the engine of the receiving machine.
4.
If the engine does not start up after
30 s
, wait
2 min
before restarting.
5.
Once the disabled machine starts ,activate some of
the accessories with high current consumption, such
as complete lighting and air-conditioning system.
NOTE:
This prevents voltage peaks, which might
damage electronic modules, from occurring when
the jumper cables are disconnected.
6.
Disconnect the black jumper cables from the machine
frame first and then from the booster battery.
7.
Disconnect the red jumper cables from the booster
battery and then from the receiving battery.
8.
Run the engine at moderate speed for about
30 min
to partially recharge the batteries.
9.
Have the electrical system of the machine checked,
to determine why the batteries were dead.
