2–3 Operation Ease
- Four-times optical zoom finder with dioptric adjustment
The optical finder is a real-image-type four-times zoom finder constructed from 4 elements in 4 groups. The
dioptric range of the eyepiece lens can be adjusted from -3dpt to +1dpt (-3m
-1
to +1m
-1
) to provide an optimal
viewing environment for all users.
- User interface makes a diverse set of functions easy to understand (electronic dial, independent
mode dial, large-sized display panel)
Along with providing a new electronic dial on the PowerShot G3, the two-stage main dial/mode dial construction
employed on the PowerShot G1 and G2 has been abandoned and each function has been made independent. In
particular, the main dial separates the functions of the mode lever and OFF button, and the power on and
shooting/replay selection function have been given* to the mode lever.
By redesigning the display panel for a clear layout of icons, comprehension and operability have been improved
despite performing a diverse set of functions.
* Power is switched off with the OFF button.
- Driver-less computer connections with Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) support
Because the PowerShot G3 supports PTP, a standard protocol, driver-less image communications with computers
are possible when combined with recent operating systems (Windows XP or Mac OS X (version 10.1)).
Specifically, selecting PTP from the “Communication” setting on the camera menu, the following functions can
be controlled from the computer by simply
connecting the camera.
