Unless otherwise indicated, screen shots of the touch panel display used in this manual are those
taken when the optional duplex unit, the optional finisher, and the optional 1000-sheet paper deck
are attached to the machine. Note that functions that cannot be used depending on the model or
options and accessories are not displayed in the touch panel display.
Terms Used in This Manual
The terms “Scan,” “Print,” and “Copy” as used in this manual have the following definitions.

Scan
Scanning a document placed in the feeder or on the platen glass.
Documents can be scanned for copying, scanned for sending, or scanned to be stored in a box.

Producing printed output of data entered in the machine.
Output can be printed for copying, printed from data sent from a personal computer, printed from
documents received by fax or internet fax (referred to as I-fax in this manual) transmission, or
printed from data stored in a box.
●
Copy
The process of scanning a document and producing a printed output of that document.
WARNING
Indicates a warning concerning operations that may lead to death or
injury to persons if not performed correctly. In order to use the machine
safely, always pay attention to these warnings.
CAUTION
Indicates a caution concerning operations that may lead to injury to per-
sons or damage to property if not performed correctly. In order to use
the machine safely, always pay attention to these cautions.
IMPORTANT
Indicates important items or prohibited actions that should always be
observed when operating the machine. These should always be read to
avoid damage to the machine or improper operation.
NOTE
Indicates items for reference or supplementary information that should
be noted by users.
