
5. PRINTER SETUP menu
The PRINTER SETUP menus are used to set PDL, paper size, and the ability to print using low
toner.
The submenus in the PRINTER SETUP menus are shown below. (Default values are in square
brackets.)
Note:
If “STOP” is selected, “TONER LOW” appears in the message area and print operation
stops when any of the toner cartridges becomes “Toner Low”. In such case, press the
ENTER key to resume printing. “TONER LOW” remains in the message area. The print-
er can keep printing until “TONER OUT” appears in the message area. Note that the
printer stops printing after power cycle.
If “CONTINUE” is selected, “TONER LOW” appears in the message area and print oper-
ation is continued until “TONER OUT” appears.
6. PS (PostScript) SETUP menu
The PS SETUP menus allow you to make settings relating to the PostScript printer.
The submenus in the PS SETUP menus are shown below. (Default values are in square
brackets.)

Use this submenu to select a default
PDL for your printer. If you select
“AUTO”, the printer will automatically
detect and interpret PDL used by the file.
Use this submenu to specify the default
paper size to print on. Default paper
size is Letter for USA, and A4 for other
areas.
Use this submenu to specify the behav-
iour of the printer when toner in a car-
tridge is low. Select “CONTINUE” to
print even when toner is low. Select
“STOP” to stop printing when the toner
is low.
(Note)
Use this submenu to conduct smoothing
(AIR) on the data to be printed.

Use this submenu to specify whether the
portion of a print job processed before
encountering a PostScript error is print-
ed. Select YES to print the portion of
the job that was processed and a
description of the PostScript error, which
may help you troubleshoot the error.
Select NO to cancel printing when a
PostScript error is encountered.
