D. Boot ROM menu

To execute the Boot ROM menu, press the MENU and CANCEL keys until the online LED and
error LED go OFF when turning ON the power.

The following functions can be executed from the menu.

• VERSION INFO: Displays version information.
• INSTALL UPGRADE: Installs software to upgrade.
• FORMAT DISK: Formats the hard disk drive
• CHANGE ENET MAC: Changes Ethernet MAC address.
• CHANGE DEFAULT LOCATE: Changes the destination flag.
• CLEAR NVRAM: Clears the parameters in the video controller EEPROM (NVRAM).

Each function is explained below. See Figure 2-6-5 for panel operation of each function.

1. VERSION INFO

Version information, version number and release date of the Boot Strap, Boot Code and System
Code are displayed. In some cases, the Boot Strap version and Boot Code version are different.

2. INSTALL UPGRADE

Upgrades the Boot ROM, System Code and File System. Any system software can be upgraded
via the parallel port if the Flash DIMM is installed.

3. FORMAT DISK

Executes high level format (creates file system on the hard disk) and low level format of the hard
disk drive. However, this cannot be executed if the hard disk drive is not installed on the video
controller.

4. CHANGE ENET MAC

Changes the Ethernet MAC address. This cannot be executed if the MAC address is locked. A
jumper must be attached to J25 pin on the video controller PCB before changing the MAC
address.

5. CHANGE DEFAULT LOCATE

Changes the destination flag. Default paper size (A4 or LETTER) is determined by this. A
jumper must be attached to J25 pin on the video controller PCB to change the flag.

6. CLEAR NVRAM PARAMETERS

Clears the items stored within the Boot ROM in the video controller EEPROM (NVRAM) that can
be changed by the user.
