8. Unpacking and installing the TokenRing network card

1) Turn OFF the printer and unplug the power cable and interface cables from the printer.  If

COOLING DOWN is displayed in the message area when turning OFF the power, do not
unplug the power cable until the message disappears.

2) Remove the 3 screws and then take out the video controller unit from the printer.
3) Unpack the network card and take it out from the electrostatic bag.
4) Remove the network connector cover from the video controller unit.
5) Remove the screw from the video controller unit and take out the slot cover.

6) Follow the procedures in the figure below to connect the network card connector and to

secure the network card with the 2 screws.

7) Install the video controller unit in the printer.

Note:

The video controller and network card may be damaged by static electricity.  Take extra
cautions when handling them.

9. Operation check

1) Load paper into the cassette.
2) When the printer goes “READY”, press the test print button to start engine test printing.

Operate the control panel to start controller test printing (see page 4-7).  Check that the den-
sity of the test print is right.

3) Keep the area around the printer clear for use at all times.
