The PNNI Configuration Screen
This mode is useful for plug and play operation of the SmartSwitch 9500 when it is in an
environment with one or more SmartSwitch 9500 chassis. Each 9A686-04 has a unique
Node ID, but has a PNNI Level configured (72) that will allow it to peer with all other
9A686-04s in the chassis, and any other SmartSwitch 9500s to which it is connected via
front panel interfaces.
•
AUTO USING BOARD # -
In this mode, the PNNI Level field is defaulted to 80. The user
is allowed to modify up to 100 bits of the NSAP Prefix. The next 4 bits (the last 4 bits of
the 13th byte) are automatically set to the slot number in which the module resides in the
SmartSwitch 9500 chassis, followed by the 6 byte base MAC address of the module, and 1
selector byte. Refer to
Figure 2-16
.

AUTO USING BOARD # Address Example
This mode is useful for flexibility and interoperability. A user must configure a unique
suffix (bits 81 to 100 when the default PNNI level is used) for each SmartSwitch 9500 in
the network. The autoconfiguration of bits 101 to 104 ensures that each 9A686-04 in a
chassis has a unique prefix and allows for easy identification of each module.
