Remote operator station wiring: Allen-Bradley
®
PowerFlex
®
4, 4M, & 40 VFDs (Powerfoil
®
& Wickerbill fans)
WARNING: The fan controllers contain high voltage capacitors that take time to discharge after removal of mains supply.
Before working on the fan controller, ensure isolation of mains supply from line inputs at the fan controller’s disconnect if
installed. Wait three (3) minutes for capacitors to discharge to safe voltage levels. Failure to do so may result in personal
injury or death. Darkened display LEDs are not an indication of safe voltage levels.
Remotely mounting the remote operator station is optional for Allen-Bradley controllers. Unless otherwise specified, all Allen-Bradley fan
controllers already include two (2) 22 mm switch operators (one switch, one speed control knob). Older versions and multi-fan controls
utilize a two-position On/Off switch. This switch will need to be replaced with the three-position mode selection knob shown below.

Note: Terminal numbers
used for PF4, PF40, and
PF4M are identical.
The following additional parameter changes are required for proper operation:
Jumper wire installation (shown above in yellow)
A yellow jumper is factory installed between terminal 1 and terminal 11, which serves as a drive run enable and must be left in place for
proper 2-wire operation.

The Allen-Bradley
®
VFD firmware does not respond well to control source toggling while the motor is operating. Before
turning the mode selection knob from OFF to AUTO or from AUTO to OFF, ensure that the fan is completely stopped.
Failure to do so will result in a loss of iPad
®
control and will require a power cycle of the fan and the BAFWorks
®
application.
