At this point, it will compare the current signal level to the previous signal level. If the signal level
difference is greater than the
“
Coarse Peak Signal Difference Threshold
”
setting
value and meets the
minimum number of peaking cycles specified by the “
Coarse peaking cycles” setting
, then “Cross
Pattern, Coarse Peaking” has completed. If the value is not greater, it will continue Cross Pattern
Coarse Peaking for a maximum number of tries based on the “
Coarse Peaking Max Cycles” setting
.

Fine peaking
This is the typical method used to automatically fine peak on a satellite. This method steps in
Azimuth based on the “
Fine Peaking Az Step
”
setting. Upon completion of each step, it
compares
the current signal level to the previous signal level. The “
Peak Dwell Iterations
”
is set
accordingly to
allow for the signal level to stabilize before the comparison between steps is calculated. If the
current signal level is greater than the previous signal level, it will step again. This process will
continue until the previous signal level is greater than the current signal level. At this point, it will
return to the previous signal level’s position. It will then step in Elevation based on the
“
Step
Pattern Fine Peaking El Step
”
setting.
This process will once again continue until the previous signal level is greater than the current signal
level. At this point, it will once again return to the previous signal level’s position. If the signal level
difference is greater than the “
Fine Peak Signal Difference Threshold
”
value and meets the minimum
number of peaking cycles specified by the “
Fine peaking cycles
”
setting, then
Step Pattern Fine
Peaking
has completed. If the value is not greater, then it will continue Step Pattern Fine Peaking
for a maximum number of tries based on the
“
Fine peaking max cycles
”
value
.
At this point, the
antenna acquisition is considered to be complete.
