Most of AvL’s linearly polarized feeds include an automatic polarization adjustment feature, but not
all. All of AvL’s circularly polarized feeds employ a quick and easy
Manual Pol
change feature. When
this flag is set and the AAQ detects that it is being configured for a change in the polarization value,
the operator of the antenna will be prompted to perform a manual change of polarization by the
GUI. The AAQ will not proceed past this step until the operator acknowledges that the change has
been completed.
Polarization RF Offset
-
Because of variations in manufacturing tolerance, it occasionally becomes
necessary to add a small angular value to correct for mechanical error in Polarization. This should
not be adjusted unless the feed has been replaced or repaired. (includes
Abs Encoder Offset
)
Polarization Motor Scale Factor
-
Because of variations in manufacturing tolerance, it occasionally
becomes necessary to change the scale factor to correct for mechanical error in Polarization. This

Polarization Pos Move Min PWM
and
Pol Pos Move PWM Factor
are factory settings where access
is reserved for field service requirements. Consult AvL technical staff before making changes.
The
Polarization CW Limit (Read Only)
parameter is the maximum clockwise polarization position
The
Polarization CCW Limit (Read Only)
parameter is the maximum counter clockwise polarization
position
“
User
” level limits are specifically designed for the user or integrator so that custom limits can be
created without disabling safety limits built into the system.
6.7 Sensor Override
In the unlikely event that the on-board navigation or tilt sensors in the AvL antenna system become
unreliable, the operator may override them with values manually entered into the control system
through the AAQRemote GUI. The configuration parameters that hold the manually entered values and
the flags that trigger their use are detailed in the following sections.

Magnetic Manual Compass
1
Choice
"No", "Yes"
Flag indicating that the manually entered compass
heading is magnetic rather than a true heading.
Heading for Manual Compass
1
Float
0.0 - 360.0
Heading in degrees to use as the frame heading if
override compass is selected.
