spanning-tree mst instance
Overview
Use this command to assign a Multiple Spanning Tree instance (MSTI) to a switch
port or channel group.
Note that ports are automatically configured to send and receive spanning-tree
information for the associated MSTI when VLANs are assigned to MSTIs using the
command.
Use the
no
variant of this command in Interface Configuration mode to remove the
MSTI from the specified switch port or channel group.
Syntax
spanning-tree mst instance <
instance-id

no spanning-tree mst instance <
instance-id

Default
A port automatically becomes a member of an MSTI when it is assigned to a VLAN.
Mode
Interface Configuration mode for a switch port or channel group.
Usage
You can disable automatic configuration of member ports of a VLAN to an
associated MSTI by using a
no spanning-tree mst instance
command to remove
the member port from the MSTI. Use the
spanning-tree mst instance
command
to add a VLAN member port back to the MSTI.
Examples
To assign instance 3 to a switch port, use the commands:
awplus#
configure terminal
awplus(config)#
interface port1.0.2
awplus(config-if)#
spanning-tree mst instance 3
To remove instance 3 from a switch port, use the commands:
awplus#
configure terminal
awplus(config)#
interface port1.0.2
awplus(config-if)#
no spanning-tree mst instance 3
