SWITCH
PROVISION
(

)
switch provision (stack)
Overview
This command enables you to provide the configuration for a new stack member
switch prior to physically connecting it to the stack. To run this command, the stack
position must be vacant. The selected hardware type must be compatible with
existing stack hardware.
Use the
no
variant of this command to remove an existing switch provision.
Syntax
switch <
stack-ID
> provision {x510-28|x510-52}
no switch <
stack-ID
> provision
Mode
Global Configuration
Usage
Note that although the syntax appears to allow provisioning on up to 8 stackable
switches, in practice a maximum of 4 are configurable. Normally the stack
members would be numbered 1 to 4, and so the command could be run to
provision any stack member within this range; and we advise this procedure. In
effect, the syntax then becomes:
switch <
1-4
> provision {x510-28|x510-52}
However, you could number the stack units with any numbers between 1 and 8.
For example you could number your four stack members 1, 2, 7 and 8. In this case
you could provision any of the stack members within this range. We advise against
numbering your stacks in this way.
Examples
To provision an x510-28 switch as stack member 3, use the following commands:
awplus#
configure terminal
awplus(config)#
switch 3 provision x510-28
To remove the provision of the x510-28 switch as stack member 3, use the
following commands:
awplus#
configure terminal
awplus(config)#
no switch 3 provision
