GOVERNOR ADJUSTMENT
Maintaining the proper engine speed on the TigerCat is very important. Hydraulic components in the machine
can be damaged if the engine runs too fast. The machine will not perform properly if the engine runs too slow.
An electronic governor is used to control the engine speed when the engine speed switch is in the HIGH
SPEED position.
The idle speed of the engine is not controlled by the electronic governor. On gasoline machines the engine
idle speed is controlled by an anti-dieseling solenoid. On LP machines the engine idle speed is controlled by
an idle speed adjustment screw on the carburetor.
Note: A small screwdriver with a blade width of 3/32 or less is required to adjust the governor controller.
To check and adjust the engine speed...
1
Start the engine and allow it to run until it reaches operating temperature.
DANGER!
If the machine creeps forward or reverse with the drive pedal in neutral, adjust the drive pedal linkage
before proceeding. See
Drive System
section for instructions.
2
Stop the engine, raise the engine cover and connect a tachometer to the engine.
3
Remove the rubber dust plugs from the DAMP and the MAX adjustment holes on the governor controller
(see Figure 2).
WARNING!
Use caution to prevent loose clothing or hair from being pulled into the engine cooling fan.
