Aastra XD
The Aastra XD platform is a polyvalent and scalable solution. In its default configuration, it has 500
directory records, 1000 voice mail boxes and 8 accesses for the IVS:
•
It consists of telephony solution with highly advanced, fully integrated call distribution functions
(voicemail, interactive voice server) going to telephony over IP.
•
Aastra XD is part of the Aastra solution (Web services integration with TWP, DECT,…).
•
It manages by default all terminal types: analogue, digital, DECT, SIP and IP.
5.3.8.1 Mechanic design
An Aastra XD is made of one main cabinet and possibly one (version 2XD) or two (version 3XD)
expansion cabinets.
The main cabinet and the expansion cabinets are in 19"-10U metal cabinet in which the
subassemblies required for the functions are inserted.
The cabinets are adapted to 19" racks using brackets.
In AXD configuration (one single cabinet without expansion), it can be placed on a desk or on the
ground.
If placed on a desk, a CPU and a PC console may be placed upon the AXD cabinet.
In a configuration with an expansion cabinet (AX2D or AX3D), it is advisable to install them in a rack
to avoid any instability. The cabinets should not be placed side by side, to avoid blocking of the air
inlets located on their left side.

The main cabinet and expansion cabinets have a common structure:
•
On the right two locations are reserved for two ADS350XD power supply modules.
•
Three slots located in the upper part of the cabinet:
•
The first one is reserved for the IUCV2D interface motherboard used to connect the
motherboards of the main cabinet together (in the expansion cabinet, this slot is free
and equipped with a cover).
•
The next two are reserved for the two (active and backup) UCV2D motherboards.
•
One back panel for connecting all the elements to the two main cards
•
Two columns of 8 slots are reserved for plug-in expansion cards along the guides on the sides
of the cabinet (RJ45 format).The last row (at the bottom’s bottom) can only receive IPS cards.
•
There are openings for air flow and, thus, ventilation of the cabinet elements.
