storage medium 

to a computer

The storage medium is formatted using 

the EXT3 file system. Do read the media 

from Windows or Mac requires special 

software. In addition one requires a 

SATA to USB converter or an eSATA 

connection to the computer.

CAUTION

CONNECTING THE SATA STORAGE 

MEDIUM TO A COMPUTER AND 

ACCESSING ITS CONTENT WITH THIRD-

PARTY TOOLS CAN RESULT IN PERMANENT 

DAMAGE OF THE STORAGE MEDIUM 

AND OR THE STORED DATA. IT CAN 

ALSO RENDER THE STORAGE MEDIUM 

INACCESSIBLE FOR THE CAMCORDER. 

Using a Mac

1. Connect the storage medium to 

the computer using a SATA to USB  

converter.

2. Download and install MacFuse from 

http://code.google.com/p/macfuse

3. Download and install fuse-ext2 from 

http://sourceforge.net/projects/

fuse-ext2/

. An icon representing the 

storage medium, called ‘/data’, will 

appear on the desktop.

Using Windows

1. Download and install the ext2 

Volume manager from 

http://www.

ext2fsd.com

.

2. Connect the storage medium to 

the computer using a SATA to USB  

converter.

3. Start the ‘Ext2 Volume Manager’ 

program. The storage medium will be 

assigned a drive letter and should be 

visible in the Windows Explorer.
