Quick Start Guide
24.
Setup
2.
focus rocker. Adjust during recording if
necessary. The focus can be inspected
more accurately before recording with
the FOCUS SUPPORT option on the touch
panel. Do not forget to turn it off before
recording.
Brightness
Make sure there is no cross-hatch zebra
visible. Cross-hatch zebra indicates
overexposure and thus saturation of
the sensor, which cannot be resolved in
postprocessing. There should be normal,
diagonal zebra in a few percent of the
image to ensure that the full dynamic
range of the sensor is used. Adjust
the brightness such that a little bit of
diagonal zebra is visible and no cross-
hatch zebra. Adjust during recording if
necessary.
Vergence
The vergence distance is visible in the
top line on the displays as a distance in
meters.
For conservative 3D, set the vergence
plane before the recording to the
distance to the closest object in the
scene to be recorded.
For more aggressive 3D, where the
closest object appears to be in front of
the screen, set the vergence distance
to about 1.5 times the distance to the
closest object in the scene.
You should only do this if the closest
object is isolated in the centre of the
field of view, meaning that it will not be
cut off by the edges of the field of view.
If the vergence distance is set to 1.5
times the closest distance, the object will
appear in front of the screen by about
33% of the distance to the screen.
Moving the rocker towards ‘=’ increases
the vergence distance towards parallel,
moving it towards ‘>’ decreases the
vergence distance, meaning that the
cameras converge on a point closer by.
Zoom
Adjust the zoom factor using the zoom
rocker. The zoom factor is shown in the
displays. In wide mode the zoom factor
is 1x and the diagonal field of view is 54
degrees; in full tele the zoom factor is
12x. The zoom is fully optical, the camera
has no digital zoom.
Zoom with tracking
Zooming in will change the angle of the
centre lines of the camera and therefore
the vergence distance changes.
Zooming with tracking will cause objects
in front to come out of the screen even
more and far away objects to come
closer to or even in the vergence plane.
