Installing NetWare Drivers
3-5
One NIC in a Client (DOS ODI)
This section describes a procedure for using the AutoLink
program to install a NetWare DOS ODI client for a
single NIC.
DOS ODI client drivers for the 3Com 3C339 PCI NIC
support shared interrupts (IRQs). However, in some
dual-bus EISA/PCI systems, an EISA or an ISA NIC may be
unable to resolve contentions for the IRQ shared with a
PCI NIC. This may impair the operation of one or both of
the NICs sharing the IRQ. In this case, assign the EISA or
ISA NIC another IRQ using the system CMOS configuration
program or another utility appropriate to your operating
system. If you discover that another PCI NIC does not
support shared interrupts, contact the manufacturer for
a shared interrupt driver.
About the AutoLink Program
The AutoLink program installs NetWare DOS ODI
client software, including drivers. It also modifies the
CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. The AutoLink
program is a DOS application. The program will not run
in a Windows NT or Windows 95 DOS window.
The AutoLink program cannot be used to install an OS/2,
Windows NT, or Windows 95 client.
If your system administrator has configured a
3Install account on your server, the AutoLink program
automatically logs on to the server and updates the client
software. Otherwise, client software is installed from the
TokenDisk
diskettes. For instructions on configuring a
3Install account, see the QINSTALL\SERVER\README.TXT
text file on
TokenDisk
diskette #1.
